Train Wrecking-When A DJ goes off beat or clashes the sounds while mixing not phasing it properly.

I never use to understand what that meant for the longest time. THen i found out what it meant and what it really means to some.

What do you think when a dj train wrecks? Do you automatically think oh he sucks or do you stop and think hey he might be havin a bad day. Just like athletes when they have a bad day and cant seem to get shit done. Ive had days like that where i couldint beatmatch shit haha.

So then think when you see a dj numerous times and tears it up. Then you see him that one time where it goes all bad  bang . You dont think he sucks cause you've seen him tear it up numerous times.

I guess the real point im tring to make is dont judge a dj on one appearance ive seen people turn on a dj for fucking up, thing is it happens deal with it dosent mean they suck just might be havin a bad day.

There is that one exception to. if you always see one dj fuck up apparantly he needs to practice haha.

So what do you all think when a dj train wrecks?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh???   club crazy

My own personal opinion is that there is never a reason to horribly train wreck, if you are seasoned. There is a difference between the beats straying a bit, but getting fixed, and the mix just going completely off. If it goes completely off, and the dj cannot recover... That's a newb move. Means the dj needs ALOT more practice.

I am not trying to come off as cocky here, just stating facts. Ask any dj who has been doing this for awhile, and they will say there is never really a time where you just can't find the beat. Well, I can't speak for them... but I am almost positive I am not the only one who feels this way.

Now granted there are days were mixes aren't that great... transitions could be better, keys clash, things just don't sound like they should. But it shouldn't be from trainwrecking. Beatmatching is the first thing a dj should learn, and the last thing they should mess up on. That is the one thing I can always count on... if I am having a bad day and my tracks just aren't flowing, at least I know I can always beatmatch.

i don't think anyone who is booked to play out should ever train wreck. if you have a shitty mix you should know how to either get shit together real quick, or fade a track out so you don't keep pushing out the mess you've made.

even people like me who don't play out often, and usually are nervous as hell, should have enough composure/skill behind the decks not to let this happen EVER.

the only excuse for trainwrecking should be something to the likes of an error in equipment/software.

trainwrecking = choking  and if you choke, you should stay at home and play a while longer.

learn to count to four and play the same track on 2 sources until you can beat match.
never tell anyone how awesome your mad skills are, maybe even comparing yourself to the local 4th grade band,
then you're almost ready to:
1) collect underpants
2)
3) profit

You know, I seem to have one fuck up everytime I play. I dont think it has anything to do with nerves or technical merit, but more that 99% of the time, I am playing a track for the first time as I am too broke to buy CDJs. hahaha...

same here. Chris and Kay said it properly.

being able to correct a slight mistake or correct a small separation of beats is one thing, BUT if you Train wreck i would say more than four beats and are unable to fix it then there is a problem, If you think by ramming another track in and swiftly bring out the other track that is also a fail to me.  I guess in my book the only reasonable acceptance is being able to fix and keep on with the transition if u are within four beats.

Also when beats separate slightly its understandable to a certain degree, but i have heard local dj's in carson and reno that seems to my ears that their pitch was so far out that they were just pushing the track and maintaining it were it needed to be manually, i think that also is sloppy as hell and is even worse than train wrecking. to me it seems that they don't understand they have to adjust their pitch may it be up or down.

have you done this lately? go back to your bedroom.
beat separation for over 4 beats? go back to your bedroom
have these problems? go back to your bedroom

i present to you this flier from the way back machine, where happy and i took turns under these two "dj" names:

so nobody told me you could be a genius 20 years in the future, i thought that only applied to after you died in the art world.
Nards!
and since i so desperately want to be a hipster-genius-cool-guy-type,
can i take my floaties off?
can i stop washing my socks?
can i keep my poop in a box?
can i battle empty store buildings with my face?
can i change my "dj/playa" name to: CRAZEE!djFURIOUSKILLSWITCH?

nap!
<insect>spider<crawling>on<me>
<moon>men<reading>thoughts>

is this me or psilogod?:

and then there's my home-defense system against future spacemen:

d6,
i hear a sound that is new and real while i pointlessly post posters

Rufus will visit him so he can go travel back in time and pass his history exam. It's for the greater good really.
